literary analysis

Of Mice And Men by John Steinbeck
·         Briefly summarize the plot of the novel
The novel Of Mice And Men is about the life story of George Milton and Lennie Small. The novel starts off with George saying that he got stuck taking care of Lennie who isn't that smart. The novel is set in the country side and for almost the whole novel it's just hardships they face trying to get money to afford there dream which is to buy their own ranch.
·         succinctly describe the theme of the novel
I think the theme of the novel is loneliness because almost all the characters in the novel say they feel loneliness
·         Based on the author's  tone, describe how you imagine the author's morning routine.  Does s/he get up early or sleep late?  Coffee, tea, or no caffeine?  Yoga/meditation/exercise?  Groggily stumble to the toilet and wish s/he wasn't so hangover?  Breakfast?  If so, what kind of food?  No, I am not kidding.  There is no shortcut for this, only your own imaginative thinking based on how you read his/her work and interpret his/her tone.  Include no fewer than three (3) excerpts from the text that illustrate your points.
I imagine John Steinbeck morning routine as waking up early and drinking coffee with his breakfast of eggs pancakes and bacon and going for a walk. I could not get any of that from his tone in his story writing but he was alive from February 27,1902 to December 20,1968 and was a happy person so I could only imagine that that’s what a wealthy happy person in that time frame would have had his mornings like.
·         Describe five (5) literary techniques you observed that strengthened your understanding of the theme and/or your sense of the tone.  These techniques may include characterization, figurative language, or anything else you've ever studied.  If you can't come up with five, do your best to remember and then look up "literary techniques" online and see if something rings a bell.  Include three (3) excerpts for each technique that will help your reader understand the technique and how it helped you gain insight
I think Similes is one because of all the similes he had in his novel "On the sands of the banks the rabbits sat as quietly as little gray stones"
Another literary technique  is metaphors  because he used a metaphor ever time he would describe peoples personalities for example  ”Lennie is like a crippled dog  It only gets in the way so  they 'put him down"
Another literary  technique that John Steinbeck uses in ever chapter is imagery he used imagery at the begging of ever chapter to give the reader a vivid visual of the setting for that chapter.
John Steinbeck also used a lot of symbolism for example the dream farm that Lennies head becomes a symbol of George and Lennies friendship  .

the last literary technique is foreshadowing one foreshadow  that they did a lot of was George always saying in some  way that" life would be better if Lennie was gone" in the end of the story George ends up shooting Lennie in the back of the head killing him.
